- Running in the Unlimited, Trick Truck class, Baja Ridgeline produced strong early-race pace in BITD Vegas to Reno point-to-point race
- Vapor lock issues at altitude results in disappointing 8th-place finish
One year after making its debut in the premier, unlimited Trick Truck category, the Honda Baja Ridgeline race truck returned to the Best in the Desert Method Race Wheels "Casey Folks" Vegas to Reno off road point-to-point race in the Nevada desert this weekend.
But, after an encouraging start that saw lead driver Ethan Ebert qualify fifth and run with the Trick Truck leaders early in the point-to-point race, the Ridgeline team suffered from fuel vapor lock issues as the course climbed in altitude. The team continued to the finish, but at a reduced pace, and was credited with an eighth-place result in Trick Truck.

Jeff Proctor (team owner Honda Baja Ridgeline Race Truck) finished 8th in the "Trick Truck" class for unlimited trucks: "It definitely wasn't the day we had planned. We started our really well, running in the lead pack. At one point, we were up to third place in Trophy Truck. But then the vapor lock issues began. That set us back, and from there the race just slipped away from us. Definitely a frustrating day, but we persevered and brought the Ridgeline to the finish. But it wasn't the result we were seeking. We'll learn from this and come back swinging at the Baja 1000."
