Defect / Noncompliance Description

Describe the defect or noncompliance:
Due to improper routing of the passenger side third-row seat belt, the seat belt tongue may be trapped and hidden behind the passenger side rear liner panel, rendering the seat belt unusable.

Describe the safety risk:
If an occupant is unable to fasten their seat belt, the risk and/or severity of an injury are increased while the vehicle is in operation and/or in a crash.

Describe the cause:
Due to a parts shortage of the rear cargo interior panel, certain vehicles were relocated to a designated repair area away from the normal production line. While the vehicles were awaiting parts availability, some passenger side third-row seat belts were inadvertently left unbuckled by repair personnel. When the rear cargo panels became available and the parts were installed, the unbuckled seat belt tongue could have become trapped and hidden behind the adjacent passenger side rear liner panel. In addition, the improper seat belt routing was not caught during final vehicle inspection.

Identify the Remedy

Describe the defect / noncompliance remedy program, including the manufacturer’s plan for reimbursement:
Registered owners of all affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer. The dealer will inspect and repair the seat belt routing, if necessary.

Owners who have paid to have these repairs completed at their own expense may be eligible for
reimbursement, in accord with the recall reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA.

Describe what distinguishes the remedy component from the recalled component:
The remedy consists of inspecting and properly routing the passenger side third-row seat belt, if necessary. The component is unchanged.

Identify the Recall Schedule

Describe the recall schedule for notifications:
Dealer notification is scheduled to begin and end on or about 2/6/2025. Owner notification is scheduled to begin and end on or about 3/24/2025.
