Jennifer Symington is the assistant vice president of Marketing for American Honda Motor Co., Inc., (AHM), responsible for overseeing marketing operations for both the Honda and Acura automobile brands.
A Honda veteran of more than 30 years, Symington joined American Honda Finance Corporation (AHFC) in 1991 as a customer service representative.
From 1993 to 2000, she held various roles in the AHFC Northeast region including Customer Service & Collections supervisor, Dealer Relations manager, and Operations & Credit supervisor.
In 2000, she was promoted to region operations manager and moved to the mid-Atlantic region, leading first the Customer Service/Collection team and then the Credit/Originations team.
In 2002, she took on the role as manager of Business Development for the AHFC Midwest region, leading a team of 10 Dealer Relations managers serving Honda and Acura dealers in 10 states.
In May 2004, Symington moved to the corporate office of AHFC in Torrance, California, and became manager of Procedures and Regulations.
In early 2007, she took on the role as manager of Field Operations and Sales, working to optimize the performance of nine AHFC regional offices and their Servicing, Credit and Sales teams.
From 2010 to 2012, she managed business domain teams in AHFC Corporate Operations, managing systems and processes used by the regional offices to deliver services to customers and dealers.
From 2012 to 2014, she served as manager of Strategic Projects for Originations, serving as the project leader of iDeal, AHFC's credit application and paperless originations system. She created the first business transition management team at AHFC ensuring that the business and its associates are able to prepare for and adapt to operational changes in the workplace.
From 2015 to 2019, as manager of Business Technology Solutions, she launched iConnect, a series of consumer-facing innovations that significantly expanded self-service features and benefits for lease and loan customers.
In April 2019, Symington moved to AHM, assuming a role as manager in the Digital Customer Journey team, leading the company's digital customer experience (CX) initiatives. She led the work at AHM to prepare for and comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act.
In May 2021, she became department head of CX Strategy and Results, responsible for the company's CX initiatives, advancement of the Agile working method, and ongoing privacy compliance operations.
In November 2021, she was promoted to senior manager of Data Privacy & Governance in CX and named privacy officer, playing a critical role in advancing the company's privacy program as well as digital products and websites serving AHM customers and dealers.
In September 2024, she assumed her current role as assistant vice president of Marketing at AHM.
Symington serves as a national advisor to the Women Powering Honda Business Resource Group (BRG) and is a mentor in various Honda-led programs such as the Leader Advancement Mentor Program (LAMP).
Symington holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and she completed the Executive Program in Management at the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management.
